THE LORD OF THE RINGS
                   -the return of the king-

The film is directed by Peter Jackson in 2003, it is based on a novel "The lord of the rings" written by J.R.R.Tolkien. It is a fantasy/adventure film and has as protagonists Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and Samvise Gamgee (Sean Astin). It won eleven Oscars and it ranked as the best film of 2003. It was filmed in New Zeland and in the USA.

It tells the story of two Hobbits, they are creature similar to human but shorter and they live in the shire, who have the objective of destroying the ring of power in the mount Fato, which is located in Mordor,the land of Sauron. During this enterprise, Sauron starts a war and Gandalf and the king of Rohan are forced to form an army to defeat Sauron and defend the kingdom of Minas Tirith.

The acting is excellent and first-rate, the film is wonderfully directed, there are some impressive special effects and the soundtrack is great. However, the film is quite slow but it is very beautiful.

It's well worth seeing it and the previous films because I think you will like all of them, too.

Never Back Down

The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow, starring Sean Faris in the role of Jake Tyler and it was filmed in Orlando, Sanford and Clermont.

The film tells about a teen, named Jake Tyler; after moving to a new school, he takes an interest in martial arts so he signs up at a local fighting school, but after some threats to his family and friends he decides to take revenge versus his enemy Rian McCarthy.

The film contains lots of action scenes and the soundtrack is impressive, but the ending is a bit predictable.


If you enjoy action and moving films you`ll love it!

FILM REVIEW-AMERICAN HISTORY X

American History X is a 1998 American crime drama film. It was directed by Tony Kaye, and stars Edward Norton(Derek), Edward Furlong(Danny Vinyard). The film was released in the United States on October 30, 1998.

The plot tells the story of two Venice Beach(Los Angeles) brothers who become involved in the neo-Nazi movement. The older brother was sentenced and served three years in prison for voluntary manslaughter, changes his beliefs and thoughts and tries to prevent his brother from going down the same path. Can he run from his past? Can he change his brother’s mind too?

The film is set in America, mostly in Venice Beach and in the prison of Los Angeles.

The story reflects the average thought of the racist Americans, in this case the thoughts of the members of the neo-nazi movement. The plot is also focused on Derek’s inside changes.

This film made me think about how people can be racist with someone that hasn’t done anything but is just different from us. I highly recommend this film because I think is worth seeing.

                         FIGHT CLUB 

Fight club is directed by David Fincher, and it was filmed in England.

It is a black comedy adapted from a novel, “Fight Club”, by Chuck Palashniuk, about the life of a man who 

works as management consultant.  

He is the typical medium, depressed and sleepless man, and to cure his problems he frequents some

groups for terminally ill. 

During a travel he discovers that his house is burned out, and the same day he meets Tyler Durden, a soap salesman.

After a few hours he calls him to stay for a night in his house, but he doesn’t say what it is waiting for him.

In fact Tyler involves the protagonist in the creation of Fight Club…

The stars are Brad Pitt in the role of Tyler, and Edward Norton the narrator. The acting is excellent, and even though the plot is difficult and the actors are very credible.

The special effects are innovative and well done. Fight club was included in 2008 in the ranking “500 

greatest movies of all the time”.

In my opinion Fight Club is a wonderful movie, probably one of my favorite films.

If you like this kind of films I would recommended it.

                                                               New York Taxi

New York Taxi, directed by Tim Story, is a comedy, action film and is a detective story. It was filmed in USA and France, and it was released in 2004.

We have two stars, one is Andrew Washburn, called Andy and interpreted by Jimmy Fallon. He is a policeman and such a clod, and  cannot drive, and for this he is fired.
 We have Isabelle Williams, called Belle and interpreted by Queen Latifah, she is a taxi driver with the dream of becoming a NASCAR driver.
Together they must find the perpetrators of numerous thefts.

The film is entertaning, and is very funny when the two stars argue with each other.

In my opinion it is pretty good, and very funny. You can see this film with your familiy if u want. Will our heroes  catch the thieves? and will Andy learn to drive?

It is directed by Bong joon-Ho and made in Korea. It is the most expensive south Korean film of all time, released in 2013/2014.

The film takes place in 2031. After the failure of an experiment to combat global warming, a real Ice Age exterminates all the planet's inhabitants. The only survivors are the travelers who have struggled with all their might to get a ticket and win a place on board the Snowpiercer, a high-speed train that goes around the world and which draws power from an engine in perpetual motion. This train is the only means of ensuring the survival, within a human company divided into social classes: the poor crammed into the last carriage; the richest in the luxurious front wagons. The difficult coexistence and the delicate balance between classes will only lead inevitably into heated social struggles and violent revolution.

It was shot in Prague in 2012. The cast is stellar, Chris Evans, in my opinion, is perfect for his role, but also the other actors are all perfect for their part. 

I fully recommend this film because it is full of twists and "raw"scenes , but you must like the sci-fi genre.

PROJECT ALMANAC

“Project Almanac” (can be also found as “Welcome to yesterday”), is a 2015 American found footage science fiction thriller film directed by Dean Israelite. It was filmed in 2013.

A group of teenagers makes an incredible discovery which takes them to build a working time machine.

While they keep hiding their awesome invention, the group starts travelling back through time, experiencing that little changes in the past do radically mutate the lives of each one of them.

Every travel increases the adventure , but also the risks and the stakes.

Altering the time curvature as they please, the guys begin to create a huge ripple effect that will have repercussions also on them.

So they will face a run against the past and the future to make up for their mistakes and save their own existences.

I really recommend this film, because it’s properly made in every single aspect. Director and writers did an excellent work about the plot, and actors interpretated their roles very well.

 It’s a teen movie, but there’s not vulgarity. The suspense is another great aspect of this film, and adds an extra point in favor.

It’s not much known, but surely it’s worth watching.

ERASERHEAD

The film Eraserhead is the first feature film directed by David Lynch. It was made from 1972 to 1977 and I think it is the most psychologically disturbing film of all time. The plot is not essential to achieve the objective of the film, it tells about Henry Spencer's (played by Jack Nance) life, he is a typographer who lives in a dreary society. One day he goes to dinner by his girlfriend Mary (played by Charlotte Stewart), finished eating Mary's mother asks Henry if he has had sex with Mary because she gave birth to a deformed fetus. Some month later his son and Mary go to live at the house of Henry but a night she goes away tired of yelling of the baby. In that "nightmare" the places are not defined, the images are worrying and the soundtrack is almost absent, the only song is "In Heaven" (played by the Pixies) singed by Mary and it' s really disturbing. David Lynch chose to shoot the film in black and white to deny eyes any possibility to see something pleasant. I would recommend this film only if you are looking for a challenging glance that can add several questions in your mind.
