I Am Legend

I am Legend, directed by Francis Lawrence, is a thriller based on the novel of the same name written by Richard Matheson. It was made in 2007.

The film is set in a post-apocalyptic New York, where Robert Neville (played by Will Smith), a marine virologist, lives with his dog Sam. He's one of the last survivors of an epidemic that hit all over the world and transformed people and animals in zombies. He has a laboratory where he works everyday to find a cure for the infected. Will Robert find it and save the world?

This film is very entertaining and it has a lot of scary and moving scenes. The acting is excellent: Will Smith, the star of the film, made one of his best performances. The zombies are well made and they are a little scary. The soundtrack is a little poor, but it's perfect for this post-apocalyptic environment.

I really loved this film. I would highly recommend it to everyone because it's full of moving and impressive scenes. But there are some jump scares too. So, if you don't like horror films, I think it's not the film that you should watch.

Real Steel

Real Steel

The film Real Steel is an action and sci-fi film filmed in 2011 and directed by Shawn Levy. The film is based on the story named “Steel”, written by Richard Matheson. The main actors are Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton and Dakota Goyo as Charlie’s son Max Kanton.

The film is set in 2020, in this time robots are built to replace humans in box matches. Charlie Kenton is an ex-boxer who became the manager of his robot Ambush, he decides to use his robot for illegal battles to make some money. Unfortunately, in one fight Ambush is destroyed; in the meantime Charlie learns that his ex-girlfriend died and he must stay with his son Max for the summer.  So with the money Charlie buy a new robot, Noisy Boy, but it is also destroyed; Charlie and Max go in a dump to search components for a new robot and Max find a complete one. The next day Charlie explain Max that the new robot can’t fight because it’s too old. However, Max persuade Charlie and their new robot, named Atom, to take a fight in a zoo; unexpectedly Atom win. So it participates in more battles and is invited in a match for the Global League and it has to fight against the Champion: Zeus.

I like this film, the acting is good and the action scenes are really exciting and quite realistic; moreover, the plot isn’t slow. I think this is a good film and I highly recommend it, especially if you are a fun of action films.

TITANIC

Titanic is a drama movie, directed, written, co-produced by James Cameron, made in the new 3D version of "Titanic" in 2012, like the original 1997 version, is a magnificent motion picture.
The film was partially funded by Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox.

The film tell the story of Titanic, on board the vessel there are poor Jack Dawson and wealthy Rose DeWitt Bukater.
Jack and Rose meet and fall instantaneously in love despite the different social backgrounds, but on the night of 14 April, the vessel went against iceberg...

The soundtrack album for Titanic was composed by James Horner, the most beautiful song is 'My Heart Will Go On'.
Since director James Cameron is at his best during action scenes, "Titanic" can be entertaining at times. The story is dramatic and the special effects are convincing. But the dubious script, characters and events, "Titanic" is a beautiful film.

'Titanic' is a timeless classic, Overall it is a fine piece of work and  you have to see it at least once in your lifetime. 'Titanic' gets a 9/10 for me.

Back to the future

Do you like time travelling films? Do you enjoy watching adventures? You should probably watch "Back to the future".
The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis in 1985,starring Michael J.Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Doc.
The film begins with the creation of an odd time travelling machine made out of a car by his friend scientist Doc. They want to test the car but suddenly a group of Libyan terrorists kills Doc,since he had stolen some plutonium from them. McFly is forced to use the car, or rather the time travelling machine,to escape from them, but he doesn't realise that the time is set to 1955 so he accidentally goes back to the past. His adventure concerning time travelling starts here. During the film, the two of them change many times the past and so the future and they encounter various problems to evade temporal paradoxes.
The acting is excellent and so is the soundtrack and overall it's a really good film to watch, you should probably check it out if you haven't seen it yet. If you like adventure and science fiction films, you must watch it.

They fight together to save the ancient dagger able to  release the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that allows you to go back in time and allows those  who takes possession of it to rule the world. The acting is excellent and natural and the fights are realistc. There are some funny scene, they are never boring and the special effect and soundtrack make it all more beautiful. I have seen this movie many times. It was created also a videogame about the success of the film. In my opinion is a good film, if you are keen on action films you will like it.

INTO THE WILD

"Into the wild" is a 2007 American biographical drama, written and directed by Sean Penn. It's an adaptation of the 1996 book of the same name by Jon Krakauer, based on the travels of Christopher McCandless across North America and especially in Alaska.
The film stars Emile Hirsch as the protagonist, Christopher, and also Jena Malone, Catherine Keener, Vince Vaughn, Kristen Stewart and Hal Holbrook.
It was nominated for two Golden Globes and won the award for Best Original Song "Guaranteed" by Eddie Vedder. It was also nominated for two Academy Awards.

The film is based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University, top student Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions and sets out alone on a majestic journey to explore the beauty and the wonder of the world. Along the way, he meets a series of characters that shape his life and he finally achieves the total comprehension of the human values he had been looking for, such as friendship, love, truth, happiness. But he leaves all the people he meets to continue travelling and especially to reach Alaska, moved by his sense of freedom, exploration and love for nature. Here, he will discover the wildest side of nature and the real meaning of happiness.

I personally loved this film. It deals with important themes such as the relationship between the man and the nature -  a very complex relationship to reflect about - but especially as the importance of true love and friendship. It's also a sort of criticism of the modern capitalistic society, full of falseness and deception, which has lost the real human values.

I truly suggest to watch this film, for its great recitation, its beautiful setting, for the beautiful story it is based on and for the great message it passes.

UNTIL THE LIGHT TAKES US

In the early 1990s, black metal began to take off in Norway and it left the peaceful Scandinavian country reeling in its aftermath. Until the Light Takes Us, directed by Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell, is a 2008 American documentary film about the Norwegian Black Metal in those years where everything, about crimes, happened. It was released on December 4, 2009.

As protagonists in the first place we find Gylve “Fenriz”  Nagell (Darkthrone) and Varg “Count Grishnackh” Vikernes (Burzum) interviewed when he was still in prison(found guilty and sentenced to 21 years for the murder of Euronymous). Until the Light Takes Us explores every aspect of the controversial movement that has captured the attention of the world. For example The Inner Circle, responsible for about fifty churches burned and other serious crimes. This is the movie that gets inside the minds and hearts of black metal's musicians.

The soundtrack, “The Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records” by Múm, is really impressive, and this documentary makes it clear what really happened in those years in the cold Bergen, directly from the words of those who then were there. However, there may have been more interviews of various front-man from other Norwegian black metal bands.

I think that if you love this music and you’re interested in the secret story behind these bands, you can’t definitely miss out this amazing documentary.
